Join the City of Lancaster in their Welcoming Week celebrations. Welcoming Week is celebrated from Sept. 12 to Sept. 21 and brings together communities and neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections, showing the importance of inclusive spaces for all.
What is Welcoming Week?
Welcoming Week is a project of Welcoming America, “a nonprofit leading a movement of inclusive communities becoming more prosperous by ensuring everyone belongs.” The project started as National Welcoming Week in 2012 and turned into an annual campaign for communities to celebrate their diversity and values of inclusion for all.
According to the Welcoming Week website “Today, Welcoming Week is a global movement because of the extensive network of organizations, local governments, and other institutions that comprise the Welcoming Network, the Welcoming International Alliance, and beyond. We are grateful for their support of a more welcoming world.”
In their 2024 impact report, Welcoming Week identified that 823 million people were reached with welcoming values through media. Additionally, over 2,006 events were hosted across 8 countries and in 49 of the 50 U.S. states. Read the 2024 Welcoming Week impact report here.
