About VITA
VITA Lancaster offers free, high-quality tax preparation for individuals and families earning $70,000 or less. As a program of United Way of Lancaster County, VITA has been helping the community save money and reduce the stress of tax season since 2007.
This free service saves taxpayers the expense of tax preparation services, which average about $273. Last year VITA saved taxpayers more than $2.4 million in fees.
Who is Eligible for Free Tax Prep Services?
Any household that made $70,000 or less in 2024 is eligible to file your taxes for free in person or at MyFreeTaxes.com. You may qualify to have your income taxes prepared free of charge at our VITA locations in Lancaster County in 2025:
- Your total household income was $70,000 or less
- You did not receive clergy pay
- You did not have income from the ownership of a farm
- You did not have rental property income or income from Airbnb, Vrbo, etc
- You did not have income from Puerto Rico
There are some additional conditions that could disqualify someone from receiving services. Answering a few questions can help determine if you qualify for free tax prep from VITA.
