May will be an important month for United Way of Lancaster County and our women’s leadership group, Women United. Over the past few months, we have crafted a strategic plan that will guide our future investments to fulfill our mission: achieve impactful change in the health, education, and financial stability of Lancaster County women. This year, the focus of our grants will be to improve the lives of Lancaster County women by promoting financial stability through further education and increased financial empowerment.
Through a targeted grant proposal process, we have received requests focused on supporting women in male dominated workforces; eviction relief for women struggling in poverty; income tax assistance for women and their children; resources for low income, first-time mothers; resources for female entrepreneurs; training for sustaining wage jobs; and more. Thanks to the financial support of our members, we will be investing $60,000 in two of these programs during this calendar year.
While Women United is primarily a women’s philanthropy group, we acknowledge it takes an entire community working together to truly impact change and we appreciate the support of men who wish to empower women. We are so excited for the opportunity to make a long term impact that changes lives. This is how we Live United in Lancaster County.
